Birdeatsbaby is a UK based band that will be playing North Star Bar on June 6th.

Have you ever considered what it would sound like to take smoldering alt/goth music, twist it with an undercurrent of show-tunes, and mix it with haunting classical melodies ? Me neither, but from the first few notes of from Birdeatsbaby, I learned it’s pretty freakin’ awesome ! BirdeatsBaby, is a british quartet, that has a truly unique sound. Originially I thought to describe their music as Regina Spektor meets Nightmare Before Christmas, but I don’t know if that would truly encompass the depth of dark elegance and the poetry in their music. Perhaps if Edgar Allen Poe had decided to write a broadway show, this is what it would sound like. Now I usually don’t try and break the third wall here but, this is a slightly different situation and admit it, you know you’re intrigued. For any of our readers who would like to hear Birdeatsbaby in action (can you hear in action ?), you are in luck. Birdeatsbaby is playing in Philadelphia ! (hence why we can get away with posting about them on phillyindie) They are playing June 6th at the North Star Bar. With any good fortune, I’ll (and hopefully you) will be there to experience what is certainly one of the most unique transcendence of classical and contemporary musical stylings I’ve ever heard. So, hey, act fast, get tickets and give’em a listen before they head back across the pond.
